AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF) – TESLA CEO Elon Musk announced on Thursday that the electric car company is moving its headquarters to Austin.
Our factory is like five minutes from the airport, five minutes from downtown,” said Musk. “We’re going to create an ecological paradise because we are right on the Colorado River. It’s going to be great.”
Musk said Texas offers more affordable living and easier commutes for employees compared to the current headquarters in California.
“The Lone Star State is the land of opportunity and innovation,” Texas Governor Greg Abbott said on Twitter late Thursday. “Welcome.”
Despite the move, Tesla still plans to expand its presence in California and Nevada.
