Family of 3-year-old who Died after Contracting Amoeba Sues City of Arlington

ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF) – The City of Arlington is being sued by the family of a child who died after contracting a brain-eating amoeba at a city splash pad.

3-year-old Bakari Williams died after contracting the naegleria fowleri amoeba at Arlington’s Don Misenhimer Park Splash Pad. The City of Arlington later said that an investigation shown inadequate chlorine levels and that there were gaps in inspections.

Family attorney’s said on Monday that they are demanding accountability from the city. The 3-year-old’s family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city that seeks more than $1 million dollars in damages.
