North Texas Volunteers Responding to Areas Impacted by Back to Back Storms

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- North Texas volunteers are doubling down responding to areas impacted by a combination of storms.

Texas Baptist Men crews responding to areas in Louisiana still recovering from Hurricane Ida are facing new challenges, additional rain and flooding brought on by Tropical Storm Nicholas.

“We ask all of our volunteers to be so flexible that they are fluid and that goes all the way up the chain. We plan for not only multiple storms but also plan for multiple serving sites within those storms. So there are challenges that we have anticipated,” said John Hall with Texas Baptist Men.

Hall said crews are also along the Texas Coast but said thankfully those areas seem to have missed the brunt of Tropical Storm Nicholas.

However he said Hurricane Ida relief crews plan to stay in Louisiana for weeks.

“The 25 teams in Louisiana have shifted their efforts because they can’t work out in the rain so they are inside homes tearing out flooded items from the combination of storms,” said Hall.

TBM has sent three trailers of supplies to Louisiana and another is heading there Tuesday.

“We will be there for weeks. This will be an extensive relief effort especially wit the combination of both storms,” said Hall.

He said monetary donations and supplies are needed. Visit tbmtx.org for ways you can help.
