Origins of Oil Spill in Gulf of Mexico Discovered

(WBAP/KLIF) — Divers have identified the source of an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.  After Hurricane Ida swept through the Louisiana coast, a mile long oil slick could be seen about two miles off the coast of Port Fourchon

WFAA PhotoDivers working at the site discovered the source of the spill…a one-foot diameter pipeline that had been displaced from a trench along the ocean floor.  Talos Energy, a Houston based company, is paying for the clean-up of the busted pipeline, although it doesn’t belong to them.

Two 95-foot response vessels remain at the site of the spill to contain and recover the oil from the water’s surface.
