DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Blood test results show that the wife of Gubernatorial candidate Allen West did not have drugs in her system the night she was arrested by Dallas Police on suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated.

According to court records, Angela West is no longer facing charges in the case.

Dallas Police Association President Mike Mata said the toxicology report doesn’t justify LT. Col. Allen West’s decision to put the department on blast over social media for making the arrest.

“What we were arguing, or what we was presented to us, was reasonable suspicion,” said Mata. “I think most people who saw the video saw Officers that treated her with respect and dignity. Nobody was manhandles and nobody was treated rudely.”

The Dallas Police Department said on Wednesday that due process is guaranteed to everyone, and that Mrs. West is no different.

“The officer made her decision based on the information available to her at that time,” DPD said in a statement. “The purpose of addressing the media and releasing the video footage of the suspected DUI arrest of Mrs. Angela West was not to prove guilt or innocence, but to show the interaction between the officer and Mrs. West because of the accusations regarding the encounter.”

Lt. Col. West said Wednesday that he stands by his assertion that a full apology to his wife is warranted.

“My wife’s honor and reputation should have never been assailed,” West insisted.

Lt. Col. West is calling on DPD to release body cam footage of his wife’s arrest in its entirety.
