PLANO (WBAP/KLIF) – The City of Plano is working to fill dozens of public safety jobs.

The plan to hire more than 20 employees comes amid a national staffing shortage across multiple industries. The open jobs include 19 dispatcher/call taker positions at Public Safety Communications.

“Like everyone else, we are needing some good people,” said Plano Public Safety Communications information specialist, Susan Rodriguez. “Although the application process takes some time, it’s differently worth it. We’re looking for applicants who are community minded.”

In addition to the call taker openings, four vacant animal service officer positions and a part-time kennel technician position are available at Animal Services. The city is also looking to hire nine entry-level jailer positions at the Plano Police Department

The PSC call taker/dispatch positions are full-time with benefits and competitive pay.  Animal Service officers minimum starting pay is $16.54 an hour. Jailer annual salaries range from $37,929 to $54,992.
