DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – A volunteer group based in North Texas is helping the people of Haiti recover from this month’s 7.2 magnitude earthquake that left more than 1,000 people dead, and thousands of others hurt.

“This earthquake has devastated Haiti,” said Texas Baptist Men Spokesperson, John Hall. “It has rocked the foundation of this country. The loss of life is significant, and those who have not lost their lives, know those who have.”

Texas Baptist Men is sending $10,000 to Haiti for recovery, as well as 200 family water filters.

“We plan on delivering help, hope, and healing through existing partners that we have worked with all the way back to the 2010 Haiti earthquake,” Hall said.

TBM is considering the possibility of eventually sending volunteer teams to help on the ground, as the recovery continues.
