DENTON (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Denton County Public Health Department is now accepting registrations for a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for eligible people.
DCPH said the shot is open to people whose immune systems are compromised.
There are some stipulations to sign up:
- The person must have received both doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine and received their second dose at least 28 days ago.
- The individual must be undergoing cancer treatments.
- Received an organ transplant within the last two years or taking immunosuppression medications.
- Have advanced or untreated HIV infection.
- Have a moderate of severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome or Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome).
- Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress your immune response.
The department said that eligible individuals can check with their primary care providers or local pharmacies about making an appointment to get a third shot.
The DCPH announcement comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended that people with moderately to severely compromised immune systems receive a third dose.
