COVID Cases Surge, While Pandemic Deaths Dwindle

(WBAP/KLIF) — The battle over mask mandates and mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations rages on in Texas.  Coronavirus cases are on the rise, but the death rate has plummeted.

While proponents of requiring school children to wear masks and mandatory vaccinations point to a surge in COVID-19 cases, those against both cite a vastly small percentage of child COVID fatalities and a steep drop in pandemic deaths across America.

In Texas and across the country, CDC data shows less than 0.1% of all COVID deaths are children. while nearly 90% fewer Americans are dying of the virus than during the pandemic’s peak.  Data also shows that less than 5% of all Coronavirus deaths are those 49 years old and younger.

At the height of the pandemic, over 3,500 Americans were dying each day from the virus. Now, six months later, the death toll has fallen well below 500 fatalities a day.  In Texas, 99.9% of the 52,555 COVID deaths are adults.
