(WBAP/KLIF) — The Metroplex has seen a steep rise in home and apartment rents over the past year. rent comparisons show a 9.3% increase over last year. According to klif’s mike traina, that’s a full percentage point higher than the national jump of 8.3%.

The cost to rent a home or apartment is soaring in the metroplex and across the nation. The largest jump in rent has come in Austin at 14.8%, while San Antionio saw a 8.9% increase and Houston 6.7%. Median rent in North Texas has topped $1,300 a month.
The Dallas Morning News says that, nationwide, Phoenix has the highest rental cost hike at almost 22%.
