North Texas Community Raising Money for Plano Family Injured After House Explosion

PLANO (WBAP/KLIF News) – Friends of the Plano family who were hospitalized due to injuries suffered when their next door neighbor’s home exploded this week are raising money to help cover the financial costs as they begin the road to recovery.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up for the Jagielski family friend Mae Reedy.

The parents and their three children were relaxing in their home when the house next door at 4429 Cleveland Dr. was destroyed in an explosion on Monday at 4:40 p.m.

Plano Fire Rescue determined an isolated gas leak to be the cause of the blast.

Reedy told our media partner WFAA TV that Jenny Jagielski used her body as a shied to protect one of her children.

“They all have sustained injuries on their body from glass and wood. For every cut she had on her and every piece that went into her  was one less piece in her child,” she said.

In a statement posted on the GoFundMe page, Reedy said the three children have been released from the hospital but their parents, Jenn and Philip, are still in serious condition.

The goal is to raise $20,000 to help pay for comforts, clothing, toiletries and medical bills. Reedy is pleading for the community’s help.

“They lost everything in a flash! Please consider donating as we help them get through this difficult and traumatic experience!” she wrote.
