NORTH TEXAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – North Texas voters will begin casting their ballots today to decide which Republican will win the seat for Texas 6th Congressional District.
The runoff election pits Susan Wright, the widow of the late U.S. Representative Ron Wright, against Waxahachie-area State Representative Jake Ellzey.
The late Ron Wright succumbed died back in February due to complications from COVID-19.
Susan Wright and Ellzey garnered the top two spots in the May 1 election, beating out 21 other candidates for a district that covers southeast Tarrant, Ellis and Navarro counties.
According to Ballotpedia, Wright received 19.2 % of the vote and Ellzey 13.8%.
Both have received endorsements from high profile Republicans.
Former President Donald Trump endorsed Wright. Former Texas Governor Rick Perry endorsed Ellzey.
Early voting runs from Monday, July 19th through Friday July 23rd. Election Day is July 27th.
