DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas Police Department is holding another hiring event for 911 call takers.
DPD 911 Communications and Technology Administrator, Robert Uribe, said that applicants are asked to bring their driver license, high school diploma, and social security card with them. The wait could take as long as three hours.
“What we’re trying to do is to make sure that [applicants] are able to apply, do all the testing, and do the initial screening,” said Uribe. “So that hopefully at the end of their wait they will be walking out with a conditional job offer.
Earlier this year, a staff shortage at the call center led to a delay in some DPD response times. The department has committed to boosting the number of call takers.
