Texas Democrats Might Walk Out Of Special Session

Austin (AP) – Some Texas Democrats say they’re ready to stage a second walkout to again stop consideration by the Texas Legislature of restrictive voting measures. Democrats temporarily thwarted a sweeping Republican backed bill in May with a dramatic late-night walkout. Houston Representative Jarvis Johnson says his party should leave again, on the grounds that Republicans have shown no willingness to listen to them. The Legislature is now in special session, working again on voting reforms as well as several other matters. A first major vote on the bills is expected this week.
