Texas House Democrats Seek Public Hearings On Election Bill During Special Session

Austin (WBAP/KLIF) – Ahead of a special state legislative session that starts Thursday in Austin, Texas House Democrats have asked for public hearings on election bills.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Democrats sent a list of discussion topics to House Speaker Dade Phelan that also includes a request to not move any bills through the House until legislative-branch funding is restored.

The funding was vetoed by Governor abbott in reaction to the Democrat’s walkout on the last day of the session in opposition of election security legislation.

It’s not known whether or not Speaker Phelan has responded to the requests.
