FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- The Como neighborhood in West Fort Worth wants solutions to stop violence after eight people were injured in a shooting on the Fourth of July.
The shooting happened at a carwash on Horne Street that has been unused for 25 years.
Police say most of the people were innocent bystanders who were injured when multiple people began shooting. Police say thankfully no one was killed and those eight people are recovering.
Fort Worth Police Officers Association President Manny Ramirez said we need to invest in these at risk neighborhoods and work with community leaders to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
“Whenever you invest in your community, you’re cleaning up areas that have the potential to be safe harbors for drug activity and other illicit activities. If not, you’re asking for these things to happen,” said Ramirez. “We have to make sure we are cracking down on these locations, especially in at risk neighborhoods in our city,” he said.
Ramirez said police are throwing every resource to find those responsible and are sending a loud an clear message that this violence will not stand.
