DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Ceremonies are planned this week to honor the officers killed on July 7th 2016 in Downtown Dallas.Dallas Area Rapid Transit police will honor DART Officer Brent Thompson who became the first DART officer to die in the line of duty.
“The pain is still there. Time gives you the tools to deal with it a lot easier. What we’re trying to do in this five year anniversary is remember the lives that were lost,” said acting DART Chief Ed Addison.
The ceremony planned for Thompson will be private.
Thompson was killed along with four Dallas police officers.
“The outpouring of concern and support from the community, the entire DFW community, it was very humbling and quite honestly made me very proud to be an American,” Addison said.
