DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Independence Day weekend will be a test for the 911 call center in Dallas, following recent staffing adjustments.
There have been recent delays in Police response times amid a staff shortage at the call center, but with adjustments made over the last several weeks, Police Chief Eddie Garcia is confident the issues have significantly improved.
“We’ve dramatically improved the response time to those calls,” said Chief Garcia. We’re hopeful we won’t have those issues. We feel like we’ve dealt with it from a crisis perspective and we will move forward.”
In the short term, D-P-D is using new recruits to help field 911 calls, and has made other staffing adjustments. The Chief said the department plans to move toward a more long-term approach.
The department plans to prioritize emergency calls this weekend.
