Austin Police Arrest 19-Year-Old Suspect in Deadly 6th Street Mass Shooting

AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF News) – After a weeks-long investigation, Austin Police arrested a 19-year-old suspect in the deadly mass shooting that claimed the life of one person and injured thirteen others.

It happened in the popular 6th Street entertainment district on June 12th.

The Travis County District Attorneys Office said the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force took De-ondre White into custody in the Killeen area, about 70 miles north of Austin, Thursday afternoon on a warrant for the death of 25-year-old Douglas John Kantor.

White is charged with murder, a first-degree felony, and is being held in the Bell County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Prosecutors said they plan to seek additional aggravated assault charges against him.

White’s arrest comes two days after prosecutor dropped criminal charges against two juveniles who had been arrested in connection to the shooting.

Investigators said the shooting was the result of an argument between two groups of teenagers from Killeen.
