47-year-old Carlos Lomas Sr. drowned while trying to save his son who was struggling while swimming in Broken Bow Lake in McCurtain County, Oklahoma on Sunday.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol said he and 18-year-old Carlo Lomas Jr. both went under the water and were pulled to shore by bystanders.
Lomas Sr. was pronounced dead at the scene. His son was hospitalized in stable condition.
In a post on a GoFundMe page set up for the family, friends praised Lomas Sr.
“Carlos was a hard working man and leaves behind two sons and adoring wife. This tragic incident leaves them devastated and heartbroken,” said fundraiser organizer Claudia Cantu.
