FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – Potential changes in the American workforce are impacting the number of flights scheduled by a DFW based airline.

American Airlines is blaming labor shortages, combined with a recent jump in passenger demand, for its decision to cut dozens of flights daily. Recent weather in hub cities is also a contributing factor, according to the airline. DFW hiring expert Barbie Barta said Monday that the COVID pandemic changed the way some Americans choose to work.

“There’s a lot of folks that have decided that they want to remain remote full time,” Insisted Barta.

She said the new reality surrounding the workforce presents challengers for some companies that are looking to hire.

“You have to get creative very quickly,” Barta said.

The schedule changes at American Airlines are expected to last through the middle of next month.
