New Bill Honoring Botham Jean Has Become Law

DALLAS (WBAP) -Two years after Botham Jean was shot and killed by a Dallas police officer in his apartment, Governor Greg Abbott has signed The Botham Jean Act into law. “Bo’s Law” provides more accountability for officers who misuse their power and also requires police departments to provide more transparency when it comes to their training efforts.

Jean’s mother says that while she’s elated the bill was signed, it’s still bittersweet. Former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger is serving 10 years in prison for the murder.
