FABENS (AP) – One person has died and at least seven others were injured after a vehicle crashed through a guard rail and plowed into a crowd at a mud racing event in Fabens, about 32 miles south of El Paso.
KVIA TV reports the El Paso County Sheriff’s Department said 21-year-old Willie Valadez Ramirez has died.
He was one of three spectators were transported to a hospital in critical condition and five others with non life-threatening injures.
Three other cars were also hit in the crash.
It’s unknown what caused the wreck, whether it was driver error or a mechanical malfunction.
