NORTH TEXAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The American Red Cross North Texas is helping residents who have been impacted by the flooding that has inundated parts of the region over the past few days.
The organization is opening an emergency shelter in Weatherford Tuesday morning.
Red Cross said teams will be on-site and ready to help at Spring Creek Baptist Church of Weatherford at 100 Spring Creek Rd. at 10 a.m.
They’ll provide support and care for families whose homes suffered flood damage amid the heavy rain and thunderstorms.
The Red Cross is encouraging residents to stay weather aware and follow any evacuation notices issued by local authorities as storms continue to move through the area Tuesday.
The organization said people near low-lying areas along the Brazos River are especially susceptible to flooding and should take immediate precautions.
Residents across the Metroplex saw one to three inches of rain Monday and Collin County got more than three inches of rain in parts of Plano, The Colony and Frisco.
