(WBAP/KLIF) — The border crisis is costing Texas counties and residents millions of dollars. The governor of Texas is pledging a billion dollars to help Texas counties affected by the border crisis. Greg Abbott has offered additional DPS resources to better secure the Texas border with Mexico.
With drug smuggling, mass illegal immigration, theft, farm land destruction, and migrant children suffering abuse in southern Texas, Governor Greg Abbott has issued a disaster declaration for counties along the Mexican border.
President Biden nor Vice-president Kamala Harris have visited the border since the crisis began. The affects of the Biden administration’s “open borders” policy is causing the trampling of farm crops, theft and vandalism, as well as enormous expenses incurred by the department of public safety.
That has prompted Governor Abbott to issue a disaster declaration for a dozen counties along the border. The governor plans to visit the area next week to further assess the situation.
