UPDATE: 4 P.M. May 31, 2021 DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – One person is in custody after reports of an active shooter inside North Park Mall, but authorities say no shots were fired.
Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said Monday afternoon that an investigation revealed that a man with mental health issues was banging skateboard on a table in the food court but did not have a gun.
“This individual then, in addition to making the noise, then took it upon himself to hand gesture as if he was shooting into the crowd, which obviously led to the chaos.”
Several minor injuries were reported as shoppers ran for the exits.
DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Reports of an active shooter at NorthPark Center began to surface on social media early Monday afternoon.
Several people posted videos of shoppers running toward the exits. Multiple people reported hearing a series of gun shots. Dallas Police responded to the area but have yet to confirm shots were fired.
Currently working at North Park mall. There is an active shooter. I’m hiding in the back with my associates and some of our customers.

The Dallas Police Department said one person is believed to be in custody.

Many shoppers stood outside the mall while Police opened an investigation inside.
