Garland Police Investigating After Father, Infant Found Dead

GARLAND  (WBAP/KLIF News) – Garland Police are investigating the death’s of a man and his eight-month-old baby, whose bodies were found at an apartment complex Tuesday evening.

Officer responded to the apartment community in the 6300 block of Shiloh Road around 5:30 p.m. after a woman called 9-1-1 and said her baby was not breathing and that a man was dead.

Paramedics on scene performed CPR on the baby before he was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

The father’s body was found inside a garage. Investigators said he took his own life.

Officer Matt Pesta said they’re waiting for the Dallas County Medical Examiner to determine who the baby died.

“We’re hoping that will help answer some questions that all of us have. I mean my gosh this is tragic for anyone but especially anyone that has young children. Even us, first responders, it weighs heavy on us…it weighs very heavy on us,” he said.

The Garland Police Department has a Victim’s Assistance Advocate to provide help to the family and is offering grief assistance to the first responders who were on the tragic scene.
