AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF News) – Governor Greg Abbott has another challenger to worry about in next year’s Republican primary in the upcoming gubernatorial election.
Former State Senator Don Huffines announced Monday morning that he’s throwing his hat into the race.
“For decades politicians have promised to secure our border, to lower our taxes and protect our election integrity…but year after year, nothing gets done. I am tired of being lied to,” he said in a video statement.
The wealthy businessman served in the Senate from 2015 to 2019.
Internet personality Chad Prather is also challenging Abbott in the Republican primary.
The governor has been facing heat from Republicans after issuing executive orders to shut down the state amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Republican primary election is scheduled for March 1, 2022.
Together we will finish the wall, lower our taxes, and protect our elections.
It’s past time to root out corruption in the Austin swamp.
Leadership. No excuses. (An Actual Republican)
