Bills to Bring Casino Gambling to Texas Go Bust … Again

Austin (WBAP/KLIF) – Another attempt to bring legalized casino gambling and sports betting to the Lone Star State appears to have gone bust in the Texas legislature … again.

Millions of dollars was spent by gambling interests to promote the effort, while dozens of lobbyists backed the issue.

Texas lawmakers who sponsored such bills told the Dallas Morning News that it will not happen this year. Texas House Republican Hohn Kuempel says, “There’s not time for it to pass this session.”

Supporters plan to keep working to end the state’s ban on gambling.
