No Charges In Date Rape Drug Case

Austin (WBAP/KLIF) – Prosecutors in Travis County have decided not to file charges against a lobbyist accused of giving a date rape drug to a legislative staff member. The Travis County District Attorney says there is not enough evidence to support the allegations. No crime occurred, so criminal charges are not appropriate. None of the individuals involved has been publicly identified. However, reports of the investigation set off a flurry of legislative activity inside the Capitol, and several lawmakers say they are now fast-tracking bills that would require sexual harassment training for lobbyists, and strip them of their licenses if they are convicted of certain offenses.
