Dallas Police Arrest Suspected Serial Arsonist

DALLAS  (WBAP/KLIF News) – The man suspected of setting almost two dozen fires across Dallas is behind bars.

The arrest of  31-year-old Rondarrious Campbell is the result of a joint investigation between Dallas Fire Rescue and Dallas Police.

DFR said officers took Campbell into custody near the scene of a dumpster fire on 1408 block of Elm St. near a CVS in downtown Dallas Saturday.

Dallas Fire Rescue’s investigative unit said it’s linked Campbell to as many as 21 fires between April 8th and 24th in the downtown area.

They identified him through surveillance video and investigators called on the assistance of the Dallas Police Department’s Central Critical Response Team to help apprehend Campbell.

DFR’s Jason Evans said most of the incidents involved trash, dumpsters, vegetation and other combustibles, but eight of them involved structures.

He said fortunately no one was injured.

Campbell faces one felony 2 arson charge. More charges are pending.
