Thousands of COVID-19 Vaccine Appointments Available in Collin County

PLANO (WBAP/KLIF) –  The logistics at COVID-19 vaccination sites in DFW are changing with an increased supply of vaccine.

Collin County’s vendor for COVID-19 vaccine administration, Curative Medical Associates, has thousands of appointments available for this week for those seeking to get their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at John Clark Stadium in Plano, according to county spokesman, Tim Wyatt.

“It’s a self administer appointment,” said Wyatt. “You can pick your time and day based on what’s available. There’s plenty of available right now, and it’s more convenient than the waiting list was.”

Earlier this year, Collin County was dealing significantly more demand than supply. In fact, the county shut down its wait list because it was too full. But an increase in supply has left Collin County, and other local governments, with more than enough vaccine, for now.

The State of Texas continues to urges residents to get vaccinated. The Texas Department of State Health Services is launching the next phase of its campaign encouraging Texans to be vaccinated against COVID-19 with a $1.5 million television and radio ad buy. The campaign combines general information on vaccine safety and effectiveness with messages geared toward specific groups that research shows tend to be less likely to get vaccinated.
