Dallas, TX – The Electric Reliability Council of Texas, in a preliminary report, says that weather-related problems were the main reason generators were knocked offline during the recent Texas winter storms.
ERCOT says it found that 54% of the power outages were due to conditions like freezing lines and ice on wind turbines.
26% of the problems was due to equipment issues and fuel limitations.
ERCOT reported that the highest problem with the state’s power grid occurred at 8 a.m. on Feb. 16, when the amount of unavailable capacity was over 51-thousand MegaWatts.
