Texas Sized Manhunt Underway; DPS Trooper in Critical Condition

DPS -WBAP/KLIF –  Texas police agencies are looking for a suspect described as armed and dangerous, believed to have fled into the woods alongside Highway 84 near Mexia, Central Texas, after shooting a Texas State Trooper in the head and abdomen around dinnertime Friday night.

The Texas State Troopers Association says it’s Trooper, Chad Walker, a husband and father of four children, was shot as he approached what appeared to be a disabled car sitting on the side of the road.  The association says the suspect, 37 year old DeArthur Pinson, emerged from that sidelined vehicle, shooting at the trooper, striking him in the head and abdomen.   Walker was taken to a Waco hospital in critical condition.

The suspect is described as a six foot tall man, last seen wearing a black sweatshirt and shorts with a side stripe.  Police say Pinson served time near Houston for a prior armed robbery, and is considered armed and dangerous.  A statewide “Blue Alert” was issued for Pinson Saturday midday; issued when an officer has been injured or killed in the line of duty.

You’re asked to call 9-1-1 if you see a man matching the description of the suspect.
