Mexia (WBAP/KLIF) – A Texas state trooper was shot late Friday night on a highway just outside Mexia, 45 miles or so south of Dallas. The unidentified trooper was rushed to a Waco hospital in critical condition. A manhunt is underway for his assailant, identified as 36 year old DeArthur Pinson Jr. DPS describes Pinson as “armed and dangerous,” and warns he should not be approached. The agency has not said how Pinson and the trooper came to be in contact with each other, nor what lead to the shooting.
