(WBAP/KLIF) — A Pulitzer prize winning Texas author has died. Larry McMurtry, the man who wrote “Lonesome Dove”, a tale of an 1870’s cattle drive, has died at the age of 84.
The University of North Texas alum penned books and screenplays about the American west over a span of a half century. Not only was McMurtry’s “Lonesome Dove” adapted for the big screen, but “Terms of Endearment” and “The Last Picture Show” became Oscar winning films.
His family said in a statement that he died Tthursday night of heart failure.
