Last Month’s Historic Texas Storms Killed 57; Mostly from Hypothermia

Texas (WBAP/KLIF) – According to preliminary data from Texas Department of State Health Services, at least 57 people died in texas as a result of last month’s winter storm.

The largest number of deaths, at least 25, happened in Harris County between February 11 and March 5.

The report released Monday shows that the majority of verified deaths were associated with hypothermia, but health officials said some were also caused by motor vehicle wrecks, “carbon monoxide poisoning, medical equipment failure, falls and fire.”

There were no deaths attributed to the storm in Dallas, Tarrant or Denton counties. two people died in Collin County.
