Abbott Reacts Biden’s ‘Neanderthal’ Comment

Texas (WBAP/KLIF) – Texas Governor Greg Abbott reacts after President Joe Biden on Wednesday labeled his move to fully open the state and lift the statewide mask mandate as “Neanderthal thinking.”

“He could not have said anything like that on a worse day. Because on the day that he said that, the Biden administration was allowing illegal immigrants who tested positive for COVID to be released into our state.” ~ Texas Governor Greg Abbott to WBAP’s Morning News.

Meantime, Business-Standard reports that Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley temporarily houses people released by the Border Patrol and tests them for COVID-19. Anyone who tests positive to a hotel for isolation.

The WBAP/KLIF newsroom has reached out to Catholic Charities of the Rio Grand Valley for comment.

Texas is lifting a COVID-19 mask mandate that was imposed last summer but has only been lightly enforced.

Abbott’s announcement Tuesday makes Texas the largest state to do away with a face covering order.

The new rule takes effect March 10. The decision comes as governors across the U.S. have eased coronavirus restrictions, despite warnings from health experts that the outbreak is far from over.
