(WBAP/KLIF) — With the arrest of Dallas police officer Bryan Riser, many are wondering how the community will respond amid the current political climate to defund the police.
Dallas Police Association President Mike Mata says that “bad cops” need to be held accountable, however the reputation of the rest of Dallas’ finest shouldn’t be tarnished. Mata has drawn the line when it comes to police officers committing crimes.
He believes that once an officer breaks their oath to serve and protect and commit crimes, they must face justice. His comments came after Riser was charged with capital murder stemming from two murder-for-hire cases in 2017.
Mata says when it comes to a “bad cop”, no one wants justice served more than fellow officers.
