New Coronavirus Cases Drop By Almost 50%

(WBAP/KLIF) —  The number of Coronavirus cases in the Metroplex has been cut in half.  The total number of COVID-19 cases, Thursday, was just under 2,100. A few weeks ago, that number was around 4,000.

Tarrant county reported 758 newly infected residents, Dallas county 614, Denton county 556, and Collin county 142.  North Texas also reported 24 additional deaths, all of which were in Dallas county.  In all, over 617,000 cases have been detected during the pandemic the DFW area, along with nearly 6,900.

Dallas and Tarrant counties are closing in on a quarter of a million positive tests for the coronavirus.  Dallas county sits at over 244,000 cases, while Tarrant county lists more than 240,000 infected residents. Denton and Collin counties report a combined pandemic total of almost 133,000 confirmed cases.

In terms of fatalities due to the virus, Dallas county has just over 2,900, Tarrant county more than 2,800, while Collin reports over 700, and Denton county has just under 400 fatalities.  Texas tops 42,000 deaths with almost 2.3 million cases.
