Austin (WBAP/KLIF) – Texas Governor Greg Abbott says a special election will be held May 1st to fill the 6th Congressional district seat of Late Congressman Ron Wright. Congressman Wright died earlier this month after battling cancer and COVID-19. Abbott says candidates who want to have their names on the special ballot must file their applications with the Secretary of State no later than March 3rd. Early voting starts April 19th. The Texas Tribune is reporting Wright’s widow, Susan may run for the seat and could announce her decision by the end of the week. The district includes Ellis, Navarro and Tarrant counties.
