Federal COVID Vaccine Site Opens at Fair Park, Prioritizes Designated Zip Codes

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The federal government is administering shots at its newly opened COVID vaccination site at Fair Park. The site is being run by FEMA and opened Wednesday morning.

Military personnel from Ft. Riley, Kansas are operating the nine drive-up lanes in a Fair Park parking lot. The site is prioritizing shots for 17 ZIP codes based on a vulnerability index. Areas determined to be most vulnerable to contracting the virus, and that are considered underserved, get first priority.

“They are going to be providing 3,000 first doses a day of Pfizer vaccine to these underserved communities for three weeks,” said Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins. “And then 3,000 second shots a day for the underserved communities for an additional three weeks.”

The prioritized ZIP codes include South Oak Cliff, parts of Garland, portions of Mesquite, Forest Meadow, and other areas. All 17 ZIP codes are listed below:

75042, 75061, 75150, 75210, 75211, 75212, 75215, 75216, 75217, 75220, 75224, 75227, 75228, 75231, 75237, 75241, 75243

Another federal vaccine site opens this week at Globe Life Field in Arlington and focuses on people 75 and older, and census tracts, opposed to ZIP codes.
