Undated (WBAP/KLIF) – Rolling power outages are occurring all across the state of Texas as electricity grid managers struggle to keep pace with demand. The rolling blackouts were ordered when ERCOT, the agency that runs Texas’ electric grid declared its highest energy emergency level for the entire state, something it hasn’t had to do for ten years. Those rolling outages generally last from 15 to 45 minutes. There are, however, many Texans who have been blacked out for hours. They are almost certainly suffering the after-effects of wind damage and downed power lines. electric power distributor, Oncor, says the number of customers without electricity varies from moment to moment, but has been averaging about one million at any given time. Oncor reports thousands of blackouts caused by downed power lines, and says it’s getting to them as fast as it can. It is not willing to predict how long it will take to restore everyone’s electricity.
