DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The NTTA is working around the clock, preparing roads for the winter weather.
NTTA maintenance crews are reportedly treating North Texas roads in preparation for freezing temperatures this week. The NTTA uses brine – a heavily salted liquid solution that dries and helps treat roads prior to inclement weather, with more than two dozen brine sprayers at their disposal.
The agency said it has many resources to choose from for weather events like the one expected this week. That includes; millions of pounds of magnesium-chloride, sand and salt, 106 dump trucks with spreaders to dispense de-icing material, 37 snow plows, 30 dually pick up trucks with small spreaders for rapid response, and 17 front end loaders located near sand stockpiles.
In a press release, the agency asking drivers to be alert, drive slow, and use caution in snow and icy conditions. In Addition, the NTTA said drivers who have car trouble, get stuck, or have an emergency on an NTTA roadway, can call #999 or dial 9-1-1 to be connected directly to the NTTA Safety Operations Center, a 24/7/365 emergency dispatch facility. When a call is received, RSS crews and/or Department of Public Safety troopers will be on the way to help. Drivers should not dial their phone while driving.
