DALLAS-FORT WORTH (AP) – Police say six people were killed and at least 65 injured in a massive crash involving 133 vehicles on an icy Texas interstate.

The pileup on Interstate 35 near downtown Fort Worth happened as a winter storm is dropping freezing rain, sleet and snow on parts of the U.S.

Crash survivor Alicia Stone told our media partner WFAA that she had discussed taking the toll road as a safer option with her husband before leaving for work Thursday. Her car ended up smashed between several big rigs.

She got out of her car by crawling through the back window and immediately called her husband who is the operations manager with Medstar.

Heath Stone dropped their kids off with family and rushed to the scene where he found his wife who was banged up but otherwise okay.

Alicia Stone told her husband to go help other people, and that’s what he did.

More dangerous weather to include plunging temperatures and snow is on the way this weekend.
