LAPD: Officer Charged With Stealing Truck That He Drove to Work Everyday

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) – A Los Angeles police officer has been charged with stealing a truck from an Orange County dealership and using it for more a year, including driving it to work.

The Orange County district attorney’s office says Matthew Calleros of Whittier pleaded not guilty Monday to three felony and three misdemeanor charges.

Prosecutors say in 2019, Calleros drove a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado off a lot in Orange, then used another LAPD officer’s identification to report the stolen truck had been recovered.

Calleros was arrested last November at the LAPD’s Hollenbeck Division.

The truck was in the employee parking lot.
