Historic Texas Courthouse Destroyed By Arson

Mason (WBAP/KLIF) – A suspect has been taken into custody for allegedly setting a roaring fire that destroyed all but the rock outer walls of a 111 year old Texas courthouse. The late night fire destroyed the Mason County Courthouse in the town of Mason northwest of Austin. Judge Jerry Bearden said the flames could be seen from miles away. His official statement says, “Right now, it’s just a shell. It just breaks your heart to look at it.” Bearden says fire investigators suspect arson caused both the courthouse fire and another fire that occurred around the same time in a house about a mile away.
