Navarro County, TX (WBAP/KLID) – Amid a long battle with COVID-19 the Navarro County health director died Saturday afternoon.
According to a post on his Facebook page, Dr. Kent Rogers faced the choice of being on a ventilator for a long term, but with already diminished lung capacity he “made the brave decision to move to comfort care only.”
The post continues, “Rogers’ leadership and key stakeholder knowledge have been invaluable as we have navigated this

entire pandemic.”
It also read that Rogers wanted to leave residents with one simple message, “Wear a mask; wash your hands; stay 6 feet away.”
The Navarro County Office of Emergency Management said that Rogers had been at the forefront of the fight against the virus in the community.
He had been a staple in the community for decades; a bronze statue of him stands in Corsicana.
