Soldiers Drank Antifreeze Component

Fort Bliss (WBAP/KLIF) – The U.S. Army confirms the 11 Fort Bliss soldiers who were hospitalized Thursday after injesting a toxic substance while on a field training exercise drank ethylene glycol, the primary chemical in antifreeze. The army says the soldiers had just finished a ten day exercise, and believed they were drinking some form of home brewed alcohol. Each of the 11 suffered ethylene glycol poisoning. Two of them were in critical condition, and at last report are still hospitalized. The remaining 9 were released Friday.
