DENTON (WBAP/KLIF) – Denton County will open a COVID-19 vaccination mega-center at Texas Motor Speedway next week.

According to Denton County Judge Andy Eads, the TMS site will be one of the biggest mega-centers in the metroplex. Echoing the passion of the host site, Eads said the drive-thru location will get patients in and out quickly.

“You may see across America that there’s long lines of many hours, but I’ll tell you Denton County’s average wait time is about 30 minutes,” Eads insisted.

Denton County expects to receive a shipment of 30,000 vaccine doses by early next week. The county currently has a wait list of around 140,000 people.

“We’re doing more this next week or so then we’ve done since the beginning of the year,” said Judge Eads. “We’re all set at Texas Motor Speedway. They’ve been great to us.”

The site could open as early as Tuesday. All registrations must be made on the county website. All vaccinations are by appointment only.
